Ah, to be a celebrity. To live in a world where your every whim is catered for, where you can get what you want at the click of a finger, and when everybody just says ‘yes’, regardless of whether what you said made any sense whatsoever.
When you live with your feet off the ground and your head in the clouds, it’s no surprise to discover that celebs have some rather strange interior design tastes, particularly when it comes to the bedroom.
Well, if Cher asked you what you thought of her 16th Century African inspired, ode-to-the-Taj-Mahal four poster, you wouldn’t tell her it was awful, gaudy and distasteful, would you? So join us as we countdown our top five most ridiculous celebrity beds, and pick up some design tips on the way too – if you dare!
1) Ashton Kutcher & Demi Moore. Ok, ok, technically they aren’t together anymore, however this bed is definitely a good kick start to our list. Whilst the bed, which sits proudly at the top of their (former) Beverly Hills home, isn’t much to shout about (despite being massive), the bedroom itself is. It’s surrounded by windows on all sides, giving a very open plan and exposed feel to the room. For a couple who lived their relationship out in front of the cameras, and on Twitter, it’s perhaps unsurprising they chose such a ‘public’ bedroom.
2) Mariah Carey. The singer’s three floor apartment in Manhattan, New York, is definitely a girly girl’s paradise, with soft pinks and plush Hollywood glamour abound. The bed is an overstated, almost gaudy affair, with princess pinks and lavender fabrics and accessories gracing the enormous cream frame.
3) Betsey Johnson. American fashion designer, catwalk cart wheeler and general Dolly Parton lookalike Johnson has a home in Mexico that is an extension of her eccentric personality, with bright, mismatching colours, and a view of the beach. We’re not too sure about the checkerboard floor or bed that looks like it’s in the middle of the kitchen though…
4) Christina Aguilera. Christina Aguilera is known for her, well, interesting fashion choices – and her interior decorating follows a similar vein. Her bed, which is raised from the floor by a wooden platform which requires stairs to climb, is a four poster affair, comprised of glossy black wood and a velvet studded headboard. Black lace surrounds the bed and red accessories make this bed stand out as much as its owner.
5) Jane Fonda. What do you get if you cross an American acting icon with a fairy tale? Well, a bedroom that looks like Jane Fonda’s. With a bed that looks like it’s grown from a pumpkin, and bright turquoise fireplace, it’s definitely unique, and definitely deserves the final spot on our ridiculous celeb beds list. Mental.
